As of the 29th, 4.845 billion KRW raised
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Hope 2023 Sharing Campaign's Love Thermometer of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea (Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae) has reached 100 degrees.
According to Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae on the 30th, as of the 29th, two days before the end of the Hope 2023 Sharing Campaign, the amount raised was counted at 4.845 billion KRW, surpassing the target amount of 4.84 billion KRW.
This campaign initially showed a low fundraising performance of 45% compared to the previous year at the start of the campaign amid a difficult economic situation due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, interest rate hikes, and rising raw material costs, making it expected that achieving the campaign goal would be difficult.
However, starting from the end of December last year, grassroots fundraising by local companies such as Gold Class Co., Ltd., Dasco Co., Ltd., Kia Corporation, Geonyeong Cleantec Co., Ltd., Gwangju Bank Co., Ltd., Munjang Construction Co., Ltd., the Gwangju-Jeonnam branch of the Korea Housing Construction Association, and Gwangju citizens, as well as the voluntary and benevolent participation of members of the Gwangju Honor Society, continued passionately, showing an amazing achievement of reaching 100% of the fundraising goal ahead of schedule.
Park Cheolhong, chairman of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea, said, "The Gwangju spirit, which shines even brighter in difficult times, led citizens to voluntarily participate in sharing," and added, "We express our gratitude to the citizens of Gwangju who donated precious funds with heartfelt sincerity."
The collected funds will be used for basic living expenses, medical expenses, and heating support for neighbors in need in the Gwangju community, as well as programs and function enhancement projects to solve current issues in social welfare fields.
