Norwegian Parliamentary Delegation on Transport and Communications Visits Busan Port

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] A delegation of members of the Norwegian Transport and Communications Committee visited Busan Port on the 27th to discuss collaboration plans related to smart ports, including autonomous ships, and decarbonization technologies.


Busan Port Authority (BPA) announced on the 30th that 10 members of the Norwegian Parliament, including Chairman Elring Sande of the Transport and Communications Committee, Anne Kari Hansen Obin, the Norwegian Ambassador to Korea, and corporate officials visited.


Officials from Norway and BPA listened to Busan Port's future smart port development plans and the plan to establish a green shipping route between Busan and Tacoma, and discussed continuous cooperation measures going forward.

Norway is one of the countries possessing outstanding autonomous ship-related technologies and has shown great interest in Busan Port, Korea's number one port and the world's second-largest transshipment port.


Kang Jun-seok, President of BPA, said, “We appreciate the interest in Busan Port and hope that cooperation for mutual development between Korea and Norway will continue,” adding, “We will actively utilize various cooperative relationships with Norway to build a smart port in Busan.”
