Cooperative Public Contest Method for Relocating Business Models to Desired Local Governments

At the meeting, the Committee had an in-depth discussion on the response measures for the relocation of the military airport, which will be a key focus this year.

At the meeting, Park Moon-jae, the standing co-chairman, stated, “Although there is a special law for the relocation of military airports, the members of the National Assembly from Gwangju are continuously proposing special laws exclusively for Gwangju.” He added, “Situations that could unsettle the residents of Muan, such as holding a residents' briefing session on the relocation of the military airport in Hampyeong last year, are continuously occurring.”

He emphasized, “We should not be swayed by the surrounding circumstances, but if we continue to sincerely promote and work with only the military and residents in mind as we are now, we will be able to prevent the relocation of the military airport.”

He continued, “We will cooperate with neighboring local governments to not only stop the relocation of the military airport but also to change the project method to a public contest system that allows the relocation to the local government that desires it.”

Meanwhile, the Committee plans to strengthen the capabilities of its members, work together with resident instructors, and make various efforts such as promoting accurate information about the military airport so that the opinions of the residents can unite in opposition to the relocation of the military airport to Muan.
