North Korea Urgently Airs TV Flu Program... "Guidance on Medicine Use"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] North Korea's Korean Central TV urgently aired a program on the 29th providing information on flu symptoms and treatment methods. There is speculation that this measure is related to the 'Pyongyang lockdown.'

On the same day, Central TV urgently scheduled a program titled 'Highly Contagious and Toxic Flu (Influenza)' to introduce flu prevention and treatment measures. This content was not included in the morning's announced schedule.

In particular, there was a call to immediately isolate people showing cold symptoms. Central TV emphasized, "People exhibiting cold symptoms such as fever, runny nose, cough, sneezing, and joint pain must receive isolation treatment immediately," adding, "Only then can group infections be prevented."

Regarding those infected with the flu, it explained, "The principle is to use antiviral drugs within 48 hours," and "Next, antipyretics should be used to quickly reduce the fever."

Preventive measures suggested included ▲ maintaining distance between people ▲ wearing masks ▲ hand and object disinfection ▲ indoor ventilation. It also recommended, "Gargling with salt water, inhaling garlic juice, and frequently drinking warm beverages."

Earlier, according to the Russian Embassy in North Korea, North Korea set a special quarantine period in Pyongyang from the 25th to the 29th due to an increase in patients with seasonal flu and other respiratory diseases. As a result, residents are reportedly prohibited from going out.
