[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Shipbuilding and Marine Equipment Cooperative recently held the "1st Foreign Worker Korean Language Class Entrance Ceremony" at its office in the Daebul Industrial Complex in Yeongam-gun, the organization announced on the 29th.
The event was attended by about 30 people, including Woo Seung-hee, the governor of Yeongam-gun, and Kang Chan-won, chairman of the Yeongam-gun Council, to encourage the hard work of foreign workers employed at shipbuilding equipment companies in the Daebul Industrial Complex and to celebrate their enrollment.

The established Korean language class was designed to alleviate the difficulties faced by foreign workers who have trouble communicating in Korean and to enhance their adaptability to Korean culture and work capabilities.
The enrollees are foreigners from 10 countries: the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Cambodia, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Russia, Indonesia, China, and Bangladesh.
The students will receive weekly education from the 10th of this month until November 28th, covering Korean language segmented into daily expressions, factory terminology, and business areas, and will prepare for the Korean language proficiency test.
Additionally, they plan to promote friendship through spring and fall outings and birthday parties, and provide various customized education such as lectures on finance, medical care, culture, and health.
Ko Chang-hoe, chairman of the cooperative, stated, "Due to a severe labor shortage, the influx of foreigners is increasing," and added, "We will do our best to help foreign workers adapt well to life in Korea for the future development of Yeongam-gun and the Daebul Industrial Complex."
