In particular, this year marks the first step to intensively promote youth-specialized projects and strengthen the foundation of youth policies by reorganizing the Population and Jobs Division, the main department for youth policies, into the ‘Youth Jobs Division’ and establishing a ‘Youth Support Team.’

Additionally, Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong of Yeosu City has pledged to expand youth startups as a campaign promise for the 8th term of the local government, increasing the budget for youth startup support to promote youth entrepreneurship and strengthening customized consulting projects for startups to stabilize businesses.

Furthermore, to promote systematic and strategic project implementation, a ‘5-year Youth Policy Plan’ will be established in the first half of the year to discover sustainable, region-tailored jobs, and short-term support measures will also be continuously identified through annual implementation plans.

Through this, the city plans to proactively respond to the decline in the youth population by encouraging economic independence and regional settlement of young people.

Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong of Yeosu City said, “In the 8th term of the local government, Yeosu City will be a pillar of support for the youth,” adding, “We will create a Yeosu where young people can constantly challenge themselves, get back up even if they fall, and a Yeosu to which young people will return.”
