[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Kim Jong-seok, a former member of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly, has been nominated for the position of Secretary General of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly (equivalent to Grade 2).
The Personnel Committee of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly conducted interviews with nine applicants on the 19th and on the 26th recommended three candidates, three times the number of final hires, to Yeom Jong-hyun, the chairperson of the Assembly with personnel authority, the committee announced on the 27th.
Chairperson Yeom selected former Assembly member Kim Jong-seok among the candidates and plans to appoint him as early as next week after completing procedures such as background checks.
Nominee Kim was born in 1966 in Gangjin, Jeonnam, and graduated from the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Chonnam National University. After serving as a policy advisor to the National Assembly, he served as a member of the 8th and 9th Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly (affiliated with the Democratic Party of Korea). Subsequently, he served as president of Gwangmyeong Urban Corporation for three years starting in 2018.
Earlier, the Assembly announced the "2022 Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly Open Position Appointment Examination (Secretary General of the Assembly Secretariat)" and accepted applications from December 30 of last year to the 5th of this month. Nine people applied, including former provincial assembly members and officials at the director-general level of the provincial government.
