Let's Drink Coffee to Eat Dessert...

My Personal Cafe Recommendation with Delicious Desserts

After lunch, on days I meet friends, or when discussing work, I go to a cafe several times a day. Do I go just to drink coffee? I say I go for coffee, but actually, it's just an excuse to eat dessert. Having a sweet dessert with a cup of Americano makes all my stress melt away. Of course, any drink that pairs well with dessert is fine. I often search for dessert hotspots, but it's not as easy as I thought. So, I decided to introduce some dessert hotspots I've visited. A cafe tour to eat dessert rather than just drinks, let's get started!

Seongsu TEESSERT

TEESSERT is sometimes called TSRT (Tshirt + Dessert). The hip vibe from the exterior drew me in without me realizing it. The pink teddy bear was super cute. This place is a space where you can enjoy graphic T-shirts, sweet desserts, and coffee all together. You can taste various desserts like sweet cookie choux and scones.

I ordered a refreshing yuzu apple tea and a nutty iced latte. The reddish yuzu apple tea had small jelly-like bits you could chew! For dessert, I chose strawberry cookie choux and tiramisu cookie choux. When cut in half, the strawberry cream was packed inside, really soft and tangy. The soft cookie choux and seasonal strawberries made a fantastic combination. In short, it reminded me of fresh berries. I slightly regretted ordering coffee.

Personally, I liked the tiramisu cookie choux better. The crispy cookie choux was filled with sweet yet smooth tiramisu, and the nuts added a savory crunch. After enjoying the drinks and desserts, you can also check out the cute goods, making it a win-win! There are various items like keychains, T-shirts, mousepads, and even photo zones. Isn't this fitting for a trendy Seongsu-dong cafe?

I wanted to find a quiet place and ended up falling for the desserts here. The clean yet unique interior creates a serene atmosphere where even just drinking water feels special. Milk tea, matcha latte, and matcha tiramisu caught my eye, but I ordered tiramisu and latte. Honestly, the coffee wasn't outstanding enough to give a thumbs up. The sweetness of the tiramisu was so soft it reminded me of tofu. It seemed to melt in my mouth. Next time, I plan to try the matcha tiramisu.

Chungmuro Gump Coffee

This place is famous for roasting raw coffee beans themselves, so the coffee was naturally savory and good, but personally, I was more drawn to the desserts. Scones and croffles are delicious, but I chose the cute and sweet financier. They come in various flavors like plain, fig cream cheese, coconut, green onion cheese, squid ink, and salty caramel. After much thought, I ordered the salty caramel and salted chocolate financiers. It was a showdown between salt and caramel vs. salt and chocolate, letting me fully enjoy the charm of sweet and salty. Personally, the caramel's sweetness stood out more, so I'd give it one more vote. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside (crispy outside, moist inside) financiers paired with a perfect companion?need I say more?

Yeonnam Cocorokara

I visited Cocorokara to try bread pudding. The cozy atmosphere, like a renovated house, and the spacious space up to the second floor offered comfort. They have a variety of puddings like banana pudding, almond bongbong pudding, peanut bongbong pudding, Greek strawberry pudding, pistachio cherry pudding, potato pudding, and strawberry Oreo pudding, which made me happily indecisive for a moment.

I ordered almond bongbong pudding, banana Oreo pudding, and Greek strawberry pudding. The almond bongbong pudding, filled with hazelnut paste and almond chocolate between vanilla cream, tasted the most savory, probably because of the nuts. The banana Oreo pudding, made with banana and black cookies, felt too sweet for me personally. I thought just banana flavor would have been better. The Greek strawberry pudding was a taste that maximized the refreshing flavor of strawberries available only in winter. The combination of thick Greek yogurt and strawberries can never fail, right? On special days or when you want to eat cake alone, you can have your own party at Cocorokara without overdoing it.
