The KPGA Professional Golf Team League was established in April last year with the goal of revitalizing professional golf teams through a year-round league system, promoting both sponsoring companies and KPGA players by highlighting the theme of teams in the individual sport of golf, and forming fandoms for each team.

Professional golf teams that have signed official sponsorship contracts with two or more KPGA players are eligible to apply. The league conducts a pennant race from the opening match to the final match, followed by playoffs called 'The Final.' All teams participating in the pennant race can compete in The Final. The ultimate winning team for the 2023 season will be determined through an 18-hole modified Stableford format in the first round.

KPGA explained that The Final is planned as a 'golf festival' where team owners, team officials, players, and fans come together from the pro-am to the main event and awards ceremony.

Last year, a pennant race involving a total of 19 teams took place from the season opener, the 17th DB Insurance Promy Open, to the final LG SIGNATURE Players Championship, concluding with the playoffs known as 'The Final.'
