The Traffic Culture Index is an indicator used by the Korea Transportation Safety Authority to evaluate traffic levels in 229 local governments across three areas: driving behavior, pedestrian behavior, and traffic safety. The city scored 48.31 points in driving behavior, 17.86 points in pedestrian behavior, and 20.98 points in traffic safety.

In particular, the compliance rates for driver and pedestrian signals were high at 99.07% and 96.86%, respectively. The city received high evaluations for its focused support in maintaining traffic safety facilities, such as adjusting the height of crosswalk curbs to create a safer walking environment for vulnerable road users.
Additionally, the city continuously promotes projects such as the steady expansion of public parking lots and vacant land parking lots, strengthening the Miryang-type public transportation service, providing universal services for vulnerable road users, and conducting traffic safety campaigns every year.
Mayor Park Il-ho stated, “The high score on the Traffic Culture Index is the result of mature civic awareness, including the expansion and maintenance of traffic safety facilities, compliance with traffic laws, and a significant reduction in traffic accident fatalities.” He added, “We will continue to strive to establish systematic traffic safety measures and improve citizens’ awareness of traffic culture in the future.”
