Ulju-gun, 3.9 Billion Won Invested in Self-Support Programs in 2023

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Ulju-gun, Ulsan City, is operating the ‘2023 Self-Support Support Plan’ with a budget of 3.9 billion KRW to help low-income residents achieve independence and self-sufficiency.

Ulju-gun, 3.9 Billion Won Invested in Self-Support Programs in 2023 Our Neighborhood Hodugwaja Business Group.

Since 2004, Ulju-gun has been entrusting the Ulsan Ulju Regional Self-Support Center with the operation of self-support projects. It provides opportunities for work and supports skill acquisition and self-support capacity building so that low-income individuals with working ability can become self-reliant.

Currently, a total of 12 self-support work groups and 4 self-support enterprises are in operation, with an average of 158 participants annually.

Last year, newly established businesses such as ‘Mitaeri Onsan Branch (specializing in pasta)’, ‘Our Neighborhood Walnut Cookie Project Group’, and the Haetteumi Civil Service Mobile Unit contributed to increased sales compared to the previous year, achieving successful results including supporting 14 out of 53 self-support participants to exit welfare benefits.

This year, to stabilize market-entry type project groups, they plan to introduce seasonal head office events at Mitaeri Onsan Branch and focus on improving working conditions and service quality by expanding production equipment for the Walnut Cookie Project Group.

Additionally, ‘GS25 Eonyang Branch’, recognized as a self-support enterprise from the convenience store project group, supports employment and entrepreneurship of existing participants, backs stable management, and strives to nurture job seekers and entrepreneurs through integrated case management and regular resident capacity evaluations.

Participation in self-support projects is available to those recognized as beneficiaries under the ‘National Basic Livelihood Security Project Guide’, and participants are assigned to self-support work groups based on self-support case management and capacity evaluation.

Those wishing to participate can apply year-round through their local eup/myeon administrative welfare centers.
