84 Billion KRW Invested in Fine Dust Reduction Projects This Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sacheon City, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 27th that it will promote the ‘2023 Fine Dust Reduction Project’ to create a clean city Sacheon with no worries about fine dust and clear blue environment.
With a budget of 8.4 billion KRW this year, the city plans to carry out various fine dust reduction projects such as vehicle emission management, eco-friendly vehicle distribution, and fine dust management around workplaces and daily life.
First, as part of the vehicle emission management project, the city will implement ▲early scrappage support for old diesel vehicles ▲installation of emission reduction devices ▲support for purchasing new LPG cargo trucks ▲support for converting children’s school vehicles to LPG vehicles.
Starting this year, the target for subsidies when scrapping old diesel vehicles has been expanded from the previous emission grade 5 to emission grade 4.
In addition, as part of the eco-friendly vehicle distribution project, the city plans to support the purchase of a total of 380 vehicles including 300 electric vehicles, 30 hydrogen vehicles, and 50 electric two-wheelers, investing about 5 billion KRW in the project.
With a total project cost of 6 billion KRW, a hydrogen charging station will be installed this year in the Sacheon General Industrial Complex to support the eco-friendly vehicle distribution project. Since this hydrogen charging station was selected in the Ministry of Environment’s public-private partnership project for hydrogen charging station installation, there is no financial burden on the city.
Furthermore, as part of the workplace fine dust management project, the city will carry out ▲support for installing prevention facilities in small-scale workplaces ▲support for installing gas heat pump reduction devices.
The support for installing prevention facilities in small-scale workplaces is a project to replace outdated air pollution prevention facilities for small and medium-sized enterprises, and the support for installing gas heat pump reduction devices is a new project this year.
In particular, as part of the fine dust management project around daily life, the city will implement ▲support for low-NOx boilers for households ▲installation of fine dust and ozone traffic lights.
In addition, to practice carbon neutrality in daily life and reduce greenhouse gases, the city will also promote projects such as ▲providing incentives for the Carbon Point System ▲diagnosis and consulting for non-industrial greenhouse gases ▲establishment of a basic carbon neutrality plan.
Mayor Park Dong-sik said, “We will actively discover and promote effective fine dust reduction projects so that citizens can live in a pleasant environment.”
Sacheon City has changed the team name from the Air Conservation Team to the Climate and Air Team through organizational restructuring to actively respond to the climate change crisis, fine dust, and greenhouse gas reduction.
