Efforts and Leadership of Institution Heads and Senior Officials Receive High Praise
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam Province, received a Grade 1 rating in the 2022 Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation of Public Institutions conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, rising two grades from the previous year.
This integrity evaluation method was revised to weight 60% for integrity perception and 40% for integrity efforts, with deductions applied for corruption incidents.
Namhae-gun achieved a final comprehensive integrity rating of Grade 1 by receiving Grade 2 in integrity perception and Grade 1 in integrity efforts.
In particular, the "Integrity Efforts" category received high scores for "Efforts and Leadership of the Head of the Institution and Senior Officials."
At the Vision Declaration Ceremony for the 8th elected term in July last year, the head of the institution advocated integrity and fairness as the core values of Namhae-gun, and during regular meetings involving staff participation, emphasized that establishing integrity as a proper organizational culture is the duty of the leader, thereby fostering an integrity organizational culture.
Additionally, at the beginning of the year, an anti-corruption implementation plan was established, and the implementation rate of detailed tasks was evaluated according to the plan, selecting 16 detailed policies and conducting surveys to verify the execution and effectiveness of each task.
Through analysis of vulnerable areas in last year’s integrity evaluation, Namhae-gun implemented integrity education for employees, prevention education on workplace power harassment and bullying, operated an integrity radio emphasizing ethical integrity, sent integrity letters to the construction industry, and held a slogan contest and awards for citizens, all of which contributed to high scores by promoting integrity policies that could be felt by both staff and residents.
Governor Jang Chung-nam said, “This good result was possible thanks to the efforts of not only public officials but also the residents,” adding, “Integrity is the foundation of all administrative actions, but we also understand that maintaining this foundation is difficult, so we will continuously foster a culture of self-reflection and effort together with our staff.”
Namhae-gun had maintained a Grade 3 rating since 2019 but received a Grade 1 rating in this integrity evaluation.
