Yeosu City Provides Subsidies for 200 Hydrogen Cars, 37.5 Million KRW Each

Two New Hydrogen Refueling Stations Scheduled for Construction in March

[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Cheol-hoon] Jeonnam Yeosu City (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced on the 26th that it will support the "hydrogen electric vehicle purchase subsidy" to reduce fine dust and establish a hydrogen industry city foundation.

The number of vehicles supported is 200, and when purchasing a new hydrogen car (Hyundai Motor Nexo), a purchase subsidy of 37.5 million KRW per vehicle will be provided.

Eligibility for application includes individuals, businesses, or organizations with an address in Yeosu City for more than three months as of the application date. Ten percent of the total quantity is reserved for vulnerable groups, families with multiple children, first-time vehicle purchasers, taxis with high fine dust improvement effects, and those replacing old diesel vehicles with hydrogen vehicles to receive subsidies.

The city has been accepting applications since the 25th and will support until the budget is exhausted.

Individuals and businesses wishing to receive hydrogen electric vehicle purchase subsidies can visit dealerships, sign a purchase contract for a hydrogen vehicle, and submit the application documents to each dealership.

A city official said, "We plan to continuously expand the distribution of eco-friendly hydrogen vehicles to improve air quality," adding, "We will also do our best to establish charging infrastructure as soon as possible."

In Yeosu City, one hydrogen charging station is operating within the Yeosu National Industrial Complex, and two additional hydrogen charging stations are scheduled to be established in March this year.
