Gyeonggi-do Provides 20 Billion KRW Emergency Support to 430,000 Heating-Vulnerable Individuals and 6,225 Facilities Gyeonggi Provincial Government Gwanggyo New Office Building

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will urgently provide 20 billion KRW in heating expenses support to vulnerable groups within the province.

On the 26th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it has prepared and will implement the "Emergency Support Measures for Heating Vulnerable Groups," investing 20 billion KRW to support households with disabilities and others who are struggling amid the ongoing severe cold due to the recent sharp rise in heating costs.

The plan mainly involves providing 20 billion KRW using contingency funds and disaster relief funds to ▲ elderly households ▲ households with disabled persons ▲ homeless facilities ▲ cold wave shelters (senior centers) ▲ local children's centers.

The province will first expand the existing heating expense support of 50,000 KRW per month by providing a total of 200,000 KRW in heating expenses for January and February to 64,528 elderly households aged 65 or older receiving basic living benefits and 20,979 severely disabled households receiving basic living benefits.

Additionally, 18 homeless use and living facilities in the province, 5,421 senior centers used as cold wave shelters, and 786 local children's centers will each receive 400,000 KRW in heating expenses for January and February.

Through this measure, the province expects a total of 435,564 residents and 6,225 facilities to benefit from heating expense support.

Applications for heating expense support can be made at the administrative welfare centers in the applicant’s town, township, or neighborhood or through departments related to homeless and senior centers. Heating expenses will be paid into the accounts of eligible recipients by each city and county after the 30th.

The province will also continue to identify and support heating crisis blind spots through the emergency welfare crisis counseling hotline (010-4419-7722) and the emergency welfare dedicated call center (031-120).
