7 Related Departments T/F Team Cold Wave Response Measures Promotion
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Jeonnam Goheung-gun (Governor Gong Young-min) announced on the 25th that it held an emergency countermeasure briefing to overcome the cold wave and decided to actively respond to the cold wave.
At the briefing chaired by Gong Young-min, Governor of Goheung-gun, the current status of cold wave responses by sector, where damage is expected due to the cold wave, was checked and future countermeasures were discussed.
Earlier, since the 24th, the county has been operating a joint T/F consisting of 7 related departments including the Disaster Safety Division and 4 teams to promote cold wave countermeasures, actively responding to related measures to overcome the cold wave in sectors such as vulnerable groups, agriculture, livestock and fisheries, road management, and water supply management, while making every effort to prevent damage.

By sector, from the 24th to the 25th, for two days, the county confirmed the safety of elderly people living alone and those receiving customized elderly care through village broadcasts, home visits, and phone calls, and plans to strengthen safety checks for vulnerable groups in the future, as well as provide emergency support such as winter supplies and heating costs to protect vulnerable groups.
To prevent traffic accidents caused by freezing, on the 24th, road snow removal work was carried out on 16 routes, completing safety measures for habitual freezing sections, and various snow removal materials and equipment have been fully prepared in advance to be always ready for heavy snow situations.
In addition, to reduce damage to agricultural, livestock, and fishery products including crop cold damage, promotional activities are being conducted along with facility inspections to minimize damage.
Along with this, to prevent water supply facility freezing, promotional activities such as sending text messages to residents have been promoted, and thorough responses to water supply freezing are being made through strengthened meter protection measures and operation of day and night situation teams.
At the briefing, Gong Young-min, Governor of Goheung-gun, said, “This cold wave is expected to cause significant damage to residents,” and urged, “Please do your best to mobilize all administrative capabilities in promoting cold wave countermeasures to prevent casualties and property damage.”
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration’s forecast that the ‘pongdang-pongdang’ cold, which repeatedly gets colder and then warms up, will continue for the time being, the county plans to focus administrative efforts on promoting safety measures by sector to prevent cold wave damage.
