Additionally, on affiliated shopping malls such as Namdo Market, where the ‘Big Abalone Gift for Lunar New Year’ campaign was held, 2.5 tons (85 million KRW) of abalone products weighing 8-9 pieces (1 kg) were sold.
The number of shipments using the post office parcels increased by 4.6% to 265,000 compared to last year’s Lunar New Year period, of which abalone shipments accounted for 80%, or 212,000 cases.
The sales amount in the Wando-gun brand section within the affiliated shopping mall ‘Post Office Shopping Mall’ increased by 9.8% to 1.547 billion KRW compared to last year’s Lunar New Year period.
The popularity of Wando-gun seafood products such as abalone, gim (seaweed), anchovies, miyeok (sea mustard), and dashima (kelp) as holiday gifts was confirmed to be no exception this Lunar New Year.
A county official said, “Although the coupon budget was exhausted due to the increase in orders during the Wando-gun eShop Lunar New Year special exhibition, we will continue additional events until the 31st for consumers seeking Wando seafood products,” adding, “We will do our best to ensure that you receive the best products and fresh Wando specialties safely.”
