Yoo In-tae: "Na Kyung-won’s 'Real Mom' Metaphor Likely Upset Yoon"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former lawmaker Na Kyung-won’s decision not to run has been analyzed by former National Assembly Secretary-General Yoo In-tae, who had predicted her withdrawal. Yoo suggested that Na’s press conference announcing her non-candidacy likely displeased President Yoon Suk-yeol. Na compared herself to the 'real mother in Solomon's judgment,' implying that President Yoon, who chose the 'fake mother'?the Yoon core aides (Yunhaekgwan)?was a 'foolish ruler.'

On the 26th, Yoo told CBS's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' “The 'fake mother' is the Yunhaekgwan, and President Yoon is the foolish ruler, the foolish Solomon,” explaining his interpretation.

Na Kyung-won declared her withdrawal the day before and shared her feelings during a Q&A with reporters, saying, “I am a party member who infinitely loves our conservative party, the People Power Party. I felt like the real mother in Solomon's judgment.”

If the 'real mother' refers to herself, then the 'fake mother' is interpreted as the Yunhaekgwan, indirectly expressing the foolishness of President Yoon who chose them. Yoo said, “I truly love the party and am someone who would support the president’s administration well, but foolishly, he doesn’t recognize me and sides with the fake mother over there. That’s how I interpret it,” adding, “President Yoon might be relieved that Na Kyung-won withdrew, but he must have been very displeased.”

He continued, “He has made himself a very foolish person, being played by the Yunhaekgwan,” and added, “Hasn’t he become someone who judges the fake mother as the real mother?”

Yoo In-tae has consistently predicted Na Kyung-won’s withdrawal, citing her lack of the 'guts' to confront power. He said, “To confront power, you need quite a bit of guts and resolve, but looking at Na Kyung-won’s life so far, that’s not the case,” and added, “Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo reminded us once again this time, but it was widely known that during the impeachment, Kim Moo-sung, Yoo Seung-min, and Na Kyung-won were all expected to join the Bareun Party.”

Na Kyung-won was expected to leave the party and join the Bareun Party during the party’s split after President Park Geun-hye’s impeachment, but she ultimately stayed. Regarding this, Mayor Hong criticized her indirectly on his social media on the 3rd, saying, “She was about to leave but stayed because they wouldn’t give her the floor leader position. She was like a willow tree who entered the party leadership by colluding with the remnants.”

Yoo said, “They asked for a guarantee of the floor leader position in the Bareun Party, and when they said they couldn’t provide it, she was indecisive. That’s how she has lived,” adding, “Logically, she should have withdrawn this time. If she had confronted head-on and raised the anti-Yoon banner, the party convention would have been a close contest.”
