[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Air Seoul announced on the 26th that it will resume in-flight VOD (Video On Demand) services on international routes.
Air Seoul was the first low-cost carrier (LCC) in 2019 to start the "Sky Cinema" service, allowing passengers to watch movies and other content through in-flight monitors. The in-flight VOD service was suspended as international flights stopped due to COVID-19. It has now resumed after about three years.
The in-flight VOD service will be available on all Air Seoul international routes including Japan, China, and Southeast Asia, allowing passengers to enjoy the latest movies, dramas, and entertainment programs through seat-installed monitors. However, some flights may not offer the service depending on the aircraft used.
On Southeast Asian routes such as Vietnam and the Philippines, Air Seoul is diversifying its in-flight entertainment content by offering free rentals of Nintendo Switch consoles and Crema S e-book readers.
An Air Seoul official said, "We are expanding differentiated in-flight services by leveraging Air Seoul's unique strengths," adding, "Passenger satisfaction is high on medium-haul routes, and we plan to further enhance in-flight entertainment content going forward."
