Up to 20 Million KRW Support for Work and Labor Environment Improvement Costs
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, will publicly recruit companies to participate in the ‘Small and Medium Enterprise Working Environment Improvement Project’ from the 26th to February 10th to enhance worker welfare through improving the working environment of companies.
The project targets manufacturing companies that have been operating for more than one year after factory registration within the jurisdiction, and selection will be made through on-site surveys and review meetings. However, this year, to support small-scale manufacturing companies, companies without mandatory factory registration can apply if the building use on the building register is listed as ‘factory’ or ‘manufacturing facility’.
The detailed selection criteria reflect the factory’s aging level, company employment rate, feasibility of the business plan, research and technical efforts, etc., and additional points are applied to women-owned companies and companies employing youth.
The project fields are divided into two areas: working environment improvement and dormitory space improvement. ▲The working environment improvement project involves renovation of workspaces (floors, ceilings, walls, windows, etc.), and ▲the dormitory space improvement project involves new construction or renovation of dormitories, cafeterias, restrooms, shower rooms, and rest areas. Selected companies can receive support covering 50% of the project cost, up to a maximum of 20 million KRW.
Since the project started in 2020, the city supported 13 cases in the working environment improvement field and 17 cases in the dormitory space improvement field for 22 companies last year, receiving great responses from companies and workers.
A city official said, “We hope that improving the working and labor environments of companies struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic over the past three years and the global economic supply chain restructuring will encourage long-term employment of youth and help resolve manpower shortages in companies,” adding, “We will continue to provide support to create a city that is good for business management and to establish a good working environment.”
