[Asia Economy Reporter Sung Kiho] Seoul Metro announced on the 25th that it will deploy an additional train on Line 5 to assist passengers affected by flight cancellations in Jeju Island with their return home. The train will arrive at Gangdong Station at 02:30 on the 26th, extending the operating hours by one hour. One train will also be added on Line 9.
The additional Line 5 train will depart from Gimpo Airport Station at 01:20 on the 26th. It will then pass through downtown and arrive at Gangdong Station at 02:30 on the 26th.
On Line 9, one regular train running from Gimpo Airport to Sinnonhyeon will be deployed. It will depart from Gimpo Airport Station at 01:10 on the 26th and arrive at Sinnonhyeon Station at 02:00.
Other lines besides Lines 5 and 9 will not operate extended services during this period, so passengers traveling on those lines will not be able to transfer to other lines.
A company official said, “We hope that the additional trains will help passengers return home safely and conveniently from the airport,” adding, “Please note that except for Lines 5 and 9, no other lines will have extended operations.”
