About 100 university and company officials attended at the I-PLEX Startup Ville in Dongmyeong-dong, Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.

This initiative was promoted to assist universities and companies in the Gwangju-Jeonnam region, which had limited direct opportunities to acquire government R&D support information from national institutions and lacked the execution base and capabilities.

At the event, the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), the dedicated agency for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s Industrial Technology Innovation Project, provided an overview guide on the major support programs of the 2023 Industrial Technology Innovation Project and explained detailed procedures on how universities and companies can participate in industrial technology innovation projects (R&D tasks).

Following this, the Korea Industrial Technology Promotion Agency (KOITA), the dedicated agency for regional R&D support projects, discussed the 2023 Ministry of Industry regional project support program guide to help comprehensive understanding of regional R&D projects, including the Regional Innovation Cluster Project, Free Economic Zone Innovation Ecosystem Creation Project, and Industrial Technology Infrastructure Project.

In the second part of the seminar, representatives from the LINC3.0 Project Groups of Gwangju University, Dongshin University, and Mokpo National University participated to share project information, discuss joint use of equipment, and explore detailed plans to activate sharing collaboration among universities through joint programs.

Kim Chunsung, head of the Chosun University LINC3.0 Project Group, said, “We aimed to promote participation of universities and companies in industrial technology R&D support projects, which are increasingly supported by government budgets, and to enhance the planning and execution capabilities of R&D tasks through industry-academia cooperation.” He added, “We plan to continue inviting officials from national R&D management agencies to hold information-sharing events to support participation of universities and companies in national R&D projects.”
