[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The book "The Breath Led Me" recently published by Lee Pil-hyung, mayor of Dongdaemun District Office, has attracted attention as it was mentioned during a Sunday service at a large church in Dongdaemun District.
It is known that Pastor Kim Hyung-jun of Dongan Church, located in Dongdaemun District, introduced the book written by Mayor Lee during the Sunday service held on the 15th.
The book compiles Mayor Lee’s experiences after quitting his job of 30 years and losing his way, then walking along the Baekdudaegan mountain range.
Mayor Lee wrote that while walking endlessly, he finally met God, and that he was not walking this lonely and difficult path alone but had met God who was guiding him on a new path.
This content was recorded and shared on Facebook by Seo Min-jung, a member of Dongan Church. Seo said, “As I reached the age of 50, I have become serious about how to live the rest of my life. So I became curious about the stories shared with many people who lost their way while walking alone along the Baekdudaegan,” and introduced that she found such content after going to a bookstore and looking at the book.
She conveyed, “The phrase ‘My life was heading toward a reasonably good ending. But when I faced the urgency of having to finish it, my life was shaken to the core. One day, an incurable disease came, but just as I could not accept it, I ignored my reality’ caught my eye.”
Seo wrote, “If a job that had been part of daily life for 30 years suddenly disappears overnight, no one could remain indifferent. However, the author realized and found that there was a path even there while walking the Baekdudaegan...”
She continued, “While reading this book, I thought of David from the Bible.” When David was chased by Saul and wandered without a place to go, his heart must have been just like that. How miserable must the life of a fugitive with no end in sight have been? The author’s heart seemed to be the same. Later, just as David, who was chased, became the king of Israel, I learned that author Lee Pil-hyung is now the mayor of Dongdaemun District Office. God’s plan surpasses human thoughts and is great and magnificent,” she said.
Finally, she recommended, “If there is someone who suddenly and unintentionally finds themselves on an unfamiliar path, I want to recommend this book. ‘The Breath Led Me’ shows the path filled with people like you.”
Ko Kyu-cheol responded to this post by saying, “I will read it whenever I have time.”
