Emart announced on the 26th that it will hold a 'Jeongwol Daeboreum Celebration' event from the 27th of this month to the 5th of next month.
During this event, 39 products including glutinous rice, black soybeans, red beans, millet, peanuts, walnuts, and dried vegetables will be sold at discounts of up to 39%. Featured products include 4kg of glutinous rice priced at 9,980 KRW and 250g of domestic peanuts at 5,980 KRW. Organic glutinous rice (2kg) will be offered at 7,900 KRW, a 5,000 KRW discount when applying Shinsegae points. Black soybeans aged for 96 hours (500g) and red beans aged for 120 hours (500g) will be available at a 25% discounted price.
Emart will also hold a coupon giveaway event through its application (app). Customers who purchase more than 20,000 KRW worth of Jeongwol Daeboreum event products can download a 3,000 KRW discount coupon. Additionally, a promotion is prepared where customers who use the coupon during the event period will be entered into a draw to receive mobile Emart gift certificates.
Despite the high inflation trend, Emart has lowered or frozen the prices of some major products compared to last year's event so that customers can prepare for Jeongwol Daeboreum at reasonable prices. In particular, although the market price of peanuts rose significantly due to a decrease in production last year, Emart lowered the price compared to last year's Jeongwol Daeboreum event through prior planning and bulk purchasing. According to agricultural product distribution information, as of the 20th of this month, the wholesale price of domestic peanuts (30kg) was 435,000 KRW, a 26% increase compared to the previous year.
An Emart official said, "Ahead of Jeongwol Daeboreum, one of the traditional holidays, we have prepared a large-scale discount event so that customers can prepare five grains and bureom at reasonable prices," adding, "Despite high inflation, through prior planning and bulk purchasing, some major products have been planned at prices cheaper or similar to last year's event."
