The ‘Busan Youth Policy Network (hereafter Cheongjeongnet)’ is a citizen participation governance where young people residing in Busan voluntarily participate to share concerns and discover and propose policies to solve youth-related issues as well as various social problems.

This year, Cheongjeongnet will be divided into seven divisions: ▲Climate & Environment ▲Culture & Arts ▲Labor & Jobs ▲Housing ▲Equality & Human Rights ▲Social Safety Net ▲Monitoring, with each division proposing one or more policies.

Last year, 189 young people actively participated in 15 sub-divisions, resulting in a total of 29 policy proposals.

Among the major proposals, ▲Early repayment support for diligent student loan borrowers ▲Expansion of youth safe housing support projects are planned to be implemented this year.

This year, Cheongjeongnet established criteria requiring applicants to complete basic education or attend the launch ceremony to prevent mid-term dropouts.

Also, the newly established Monitoring division, created from the 2022 Cheongjeongnet proposals, consists of previous Youth Policy Network participants and will evaluate existing policies and suggest improvements.

Starting with the launch ceremony in February, Cheongjeongnet will engage in education and workshops to strengthen policy proposal capabilities, deliberations and discussions by division, and then begin discovering youth policy agendas. After expert consultations and policy meetings, the discovered policies will be proposed to Busan City through a policy proposal meeting in July.

Any youth aged 18 to 34 residing in or active in Busan City can apply, and detailed information including application methods can be found on the Busan Youth Platform.

Lee Yoonjae, Director of the Youth Industry-Academia Startup Bureau of Busan City, said, “As young people from various fields gather, we expect them to present the youthfulness of future Busan centered on youth, and we will continue to strive to reflect the voices of youth in policies through ongoing communication.”
