Self-Maintenance of Building Number Plates Aging Level... Efforts for Future 3D Address Projects
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) was selected as an 'Excellent Institution for Address Policy Implementation in 2022' at the 2023 Address Policy Workshop hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 12th, receiving a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety and a special grant of 18 million KRW as an incentive.
Additionally, the maintenance plan, which was established by independently investigating the damage and aging level of building number plates installed during the full implementation of road name addresses, was selected as an excellent case. Gangbuk-gu also presented the vision for road name addresses and shared policies with local governments nationwide.
This excellent institution was selected through a comprehensive evaluation of 11 areas related to address work in 2022, including facility management, data maintenance, promotion, and utilization, targeting local governments across the country.
In 2022, the district assigned object addresses to 318 multi-use facilities such as bus stops, taxi stands, life-saving boxes, outdoor elevators, and small parks, and installed 20 solar-powered base number plates along the Uicheon bicycle path, enhancing the convenience of address use for residents utilizing Gangbuk-gu’s healing facilities and laying the foundation for an address safety network necessary for emergency rescue.
The district announced that, according to this year’s ‘Building Number Plate Comprehensive Maintenance Plan,’ it will replace and maintain aging building number plates that have been installed for more than 10 years.
Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, “This award is the result of approaching address work from the residents’ perspective, presenting creative ideas, and actively building address information.” She added, “We will continue to strive for the 3D address project that allows all residents to conveniently use address information and do our best to realize a safe and pleasant Gangbuk.”
