'Ceiling Crack' NC Department Store Yatap Branch to Resume Operations on the 21st Seongnam City Hall Panorama

[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] NC Department Store Yatap Branch, which had suspended operations due to ceiling cracks, resumed business on the 21st. It has been five days since the suspension on the 17th.

Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 21st that it lifted the building usage restriction on NC Department Store Yatap Branch, which had been suspended due to safety concerns, on the afternoon of the 20th.

Earlier, on the 16th, Seongnam City judged that the ceiling cracks on the 2nd floor and the falling of the smoke control window on the 1st floor posed a serious safety risk to users, and after an emergency safety inspection on the 17th, restricted the use of the building until safety measures were completed.

Accordingly, NC Department Store conducted a safety inspection of the entire building over two days, the 17th and 18th, through an external safety expert organization. In particular, necessary measures such as replacing and repairing ceiling gypsum boards, repairing the smoke control window, and fixing other cracks were taken.

The city explained that on the 20th, a joint inspection was conducted with the city safety management advisory group and Bundang Fire Station, confirming that repairs and reinforcements were completed, and thus the building usage restriction was lifted.

Meanwhile, Seongnam City plans to continue repair work to enhance durability and comply with the 'Building Management Act' for building maintenance and its own crisis management manual to prevent similar incidents in the future.
