Firefighters' Union Holds Policy Meeting with National Assembly Member Park Jeong-ha to Demand Budget Realization for Firefighter Dispatch Snack Expenses and More

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The National Fire Safety Officials Labor Union (Chairman Hong Soon-tak) held a fire policy meeting on the 19th at 2 PM in the large conference room on the 3rd floor of Wonju Fire Station with Park Jeong-ha, a member of the National Assembly from the People Power Party (People Power Party Chief Spokesperson), to listen to the difficulties faced by field officials and seek alternatives.

The event began with presenting a plaque of appreciation to Assembly Member Park Jeong-ha for actively supporting the improvement of firefighters' working conditions, followed by the fire policy meeting.

Chairman Hong Soon-tak said at the meeting, “It is very meaningful to hold a meeting in Wonju, Assembly Member Park Jeong-ha’s constituency, where we can convey the grievances of firefighters. There are many pressing issues such as the additional construction of the Firefighter Mental and Physical Training Center, the realization of firefighter allowances including the dispatch snack expenses which have been frozen at 3,000 won since 1997, and the stabilization of the fire organization including normalizing the vacant position of the Fire Agency Commissioner. We ask for your active support on these matters.”

He also proposed the construction of the ‘Wonju Taejang 119 Safety Center’ to Kim Ki-hong, Vice Chairman of the Gangwon Provincial Council, who attended the meeting.

Assembly Member Park Jeong-ha expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am thankful to meet firefighters working hard across the country. I will share the commitment to improving the welfare and working conditions of firefighters.”

She added, “In addition to the confirmed Gangwon-do Mental and Physical Training Center, four regional centers are planned. Firefighter mental and physical training centers will be built nationwide to create an environment where firefighters can work vigorously on the front lines, and as a member of the National Assembly, I will do my best to support this.”

Regarding allowances, she stated, “I will pay attention and consider necessary measures to realize various allowances that have been frozen for a long time.”
