Basic Livelihood Security Recipients, Low-Income Disabled and Elderly

Facility Improvement Support of 5 Million KRW per 50 Households

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan City has launched a project to support housing facility improvements by providing 5 million KRW each to 50 households.

Ulsan City announced on the 24th that it will continue to promote the "Housing Convenience Support Project for Low-Income Disabled and Elderly" in 2023, following last year.

This support project was established to resolve daily inconveniences and improve living conditions into a safe and comfortable housing environment.

The support targets are low-income disabled and elderly households living in owner-occupied or rental housing who are basic livelihood security recipients or belong to the near-poverty class.

However, in the case of rental households, the homeowner must agree to the construction or remodeling.

The support scale is a total of 50 households (10 households per each of the 5 districts/counties, including 5 disabled and 5 elderly households).

The support includes ▲ bathroom remodeling ▲ removal of door thresholds ▲ installation of safety handrails ▲ installation of eco-friendly boilers, and other housing repair and convenience facility installations within 5 million KRW per household.

The application period can be found on the respective district/county websites, and applications should be submitted to the district/county elderly and disabled departments or the relevant administrative welfare centers.

The final supported households will be selected by the district/county after on-site investigations of applicants, considering disability grade, age, urgency, and living conditions.

An official from Ulsan City stated, “As indoor living has increased due to the spread of COVID-19, the difficulties faced by the disabled and elderly have also increased. We hope this project will alleviate some of their inconveniences and we will do our best to create warm and comfortable homes.”
