Police "50-Year-Old Woman Accused of Stalking Conglomerate Chairman, Restraining Order Issued"

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seoyoon] On the 20th, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul announced that a restraining order was issued against a woman who held a solo protest in front of the house of the chairman of a major conglomerate ranked within the top 10 in the domestic business world and also visited the wedding venue of his child.

According to the police, a woman in her 50s, Ms. A, has been holding a solo protest in front of the house of Mr. B, the chairman of a major conglomerate located in Yongsan-gu, since February last year. She blocked passing cars and also visited the wedding venue of Mr. B’s child. She is suspected of continuously causing anxiety (violation of the Stalking Punishment Act, etc.).

It is reported that Ms. A held the solo protest due to dissatisfaction with the construction affiliate of the company.

After receiving a complaint from Mr. B in November last year, the police judged that Ms. A’s repeated actions over the course of a year constituted stalking.

Recently, the police applied to the court for provisional measures No. 1 (written warning) and No. 2 (prohibition of approaching within 100 meters of the victim’s residence, etc.). The Seoul Western District Court accepted the police’s application on the same day.
