Park Hong-geun "The subjects of cooperation and solidarity are not far away"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Park Hong-geun, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed surprise at President Yoon Seok-yeol's speech in Davos, Switzerland, where he mentioned "solidarity and cooperation." He urged starting cooperation domestically, saying "the subjects of cooperation and solidarity are not far away."
On the 20th, Park, at the Democratic Party's Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, sarcastically said, "President Yoon's speech at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting (WEF, Davos Forum) yesterday was truly surprising."
He criticized, "The president, who responded to repeated summit meeting proposals from opposition leaders with raids and summons instead of cooperation, said, 'The world is now facing economic uncertainty and a complex crisis,' and proposed, 'Let's overcome this through cooperation and solidarity.' While oppressing the opposition and threatening even the ruling party by labeling them as 'anti-Yoon, far-Yoon, and other kinds of Yoon,' he made completely opposite remarks on the international stage."
President Yoon emphasized in his special speech at the Davos Forum held in Davos, Switzerland, the previous day (local time), "The structural problems the world faces now cannot be solved without cooperation and solidarity."
Regarding this, Park said, "Who exactly is the subject of cooperation and solidarity that President Yoon, who caused a diplomatic disaster with just one phrase saying 'Iran is the enemy of the UAE,' is talking about?" and added, "I only hope that the self-proclaimed 'No. 1 salesperson of the Republic of Korea' has not cheapened the national dignity."
He said, "The livelihood economy of the Republic of Korea is precisely facing uncertainty and a complex crisis," and "the subjects of cooperation and solidarity are not far away." This is a request to seek cooperation with the opposition party.
He continued, "In the new year, I hope the president will break free from arrogance and self-righteousness and return hope to the people through cooperation, peace, livelihood, and the economy."
