Helicopter Crash in Kyiv, Ukraine... "16 Dead Including Deputy Minister of Interior"

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Yuri] On the 18th (local time), a helicopter crashed in a residential area on the outskirts of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, killing 16 people including the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, according to major foreign media such as AFP.


Igor Klymenko, Chief of the Ukrainian National Police, stated that the accident occurred near a kindergarten and residential buildings in the Brovary area adjacent to the northeast of Kyiv. Among the deceased were Denis Monastyrsky, Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Yevhen Yenin, First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and two children. There were 22 injured, including 10 children.

Oleksiy Kuleba, Governor of Kyiv, said on Telegram, "The helicopter crashed near a kindergarten and residential buildings," adding, "Children and staff were in the kindergarten at the time of the accident."


Kyrylo Tymoshenko, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said, "We are currently gathering information about the situation and the victims."


The cause of the helicopter crash has not yet been determined. There has been no response from Russia regarding the accident, and Ukraine has not commented on whether Russia launched an attack at the time of the accident.
