Busan Office of Education Delivers Happiness Packages to Families of Educationally Disadvantaged Students

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education delivered happiness packages to educationally vulnerable families to support student growth without care gaps during the Lunar New Year holiday.

These packages were delivered to 125 educationally vulnerable families, including grandparent-headed households, among elementary and middle school students under case management by the educational welfare safety net operated by five education support offices.

The educational welfare safety net identifies educationally vulnerable students in schools within the jurisdiction of the education support offices and provides student-tailored welfare services in connection with the local community.

Last year, customized support such as daily necessities, medical expenses, and psychological treatment costs was provided to students in need.

Busan Office of Education Delivers Happiness Packages to Families of Educationally Disadvantaged Students Hayunsoo, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, is packing a happiness package.

The packages consisted of daily necessities needed for the Lunar New Year such as rice cake soup rice cakes and gim (seaweed), as well as student-tailored stationery, and were delivered by courier to the respective families before the holiday. For families who have difficulty moving or receiving courier deliveries, the educational welfare safety net delivers the packages directly.

The happiness packages from the Northern Education Support Office were packed and sent by Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, at 9:20 a.m. on the 18th.

Kim Sun-ryang, Director of Elementary and Secondary Education at the City Education Office, said, “The happiness packages prepared this time may be modest gifts, but they were prepared to check whether there are any students in difficult circumstances who might be neglected during the joyful holiday and to convey warm affection. We will continue to operate substantial educational welfare policies and do our best to manage and support students from educationally vulnerable groups.”
