[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province has been selected for the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Youth Challenge Support Project' competition.
According to the province on the 18th, this project is implemented to discover young people who have given up on job seeking and support their participation in the labor market through employment and start-up opportunities.
Following the project selection results, the province secured 2.07 billion KRW in national funding. The national funds will be used to operate employment and start-up education programs and provide incentives to young people who complete the programs.
The total number of people to be supported through this year's project is 400, which the province explains is the largest number among local governments nationwide.
Earlier, in December last year, the province selected the Chungnam Lifelong Education Promotion Foundation as the project operating institution through a competition.
The province and the Lifelong Education Promotion Foundation plan to start full-scale support from next month by discovering young people who have not engaged in job-seeking activities for more than six months, including youth preparing for independence and young people entering or leaving youth shelters.
A provincial official said, "The Youth Challenge Support Project will be a good opportunity to encourage social participation of young people who have given up on job seeking," and added, "We will do our best to ensure the project is carried out without any setbacks."
