'God of Pommel Horse' Yang Hak-seon Appointed as Ministry of Justice Public Relations Ambassador

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] 'God of Pommel Horse' Yang Hak-seon (31, Busan City Sports Council) will serve as an ambassador for the Ministry of Justice.

On the 17th, the Ministry of Justice appointed Yang Hak-seon as an ambassador at the Government Gwacheon Complex. Yang Hak-seon is a star who became the first Olympic champion in the history of Korean artistic gymnastics. He won the gold medal in the pommel horse event at the 2012 London Olympics and also won the World Championships in 2011 and 2013.

Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon emphasized at the new prosecutor commissioning ceremony last August that prosecutors should properly acquire the investigative capabilities accumulated over the past 70 years by comparing the 1932 LA Olympic gold medalist and Yang Hak-seon's London Olympic performance video.

Minister Han personally contacted Yang Hak-seon to offer him the ambassador position. This process was also previewed on the Ministry of Justice's YouTube channel.

At the appointment ceremony, Minister Han said, "To see the fruits of the policies the Ministry of Justice aims to implement, I will learn from Ambassador Yang Hak-seon's consistent self-management and sense of duty." Yang Hak-seon responded, "I will do my best to help the public appreciate the importance of the rule of law."

Yang Hak-seon will engage in promotional activities related to the Ministry of Justice's policies, including youth crime prevention, campaigns to uphold the rule of law, and crime prevention environment improvement projects.
