"Preventing Hoarding"... Amore Limits Purchase Quantities at Duty-Free Shops and More

"Preventing Hoarding"... Amore Limits Purchase Quantities at Duty-Free Shops and More On December 22 last year, when the number of daily users at Incheon Airport exceeded 120,000 for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the duty-free area of Terminal 1 at Incheon Airport was crowded with travelers. / Yeongjongdo - Photo by Jinhyung Kang aymsdream@

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Amorepacific has introduced a purchase quantity limit per person.

According to the cosmetics industry on the 17th, Amorepacific has been limiting the number of products that can be purchased per person at duty-free shops and online malls since last month.

Amorepacific's representative popular products such as Sulwhasoo Yunjo Essence, Hera Black Cushion, and Laneige Neo Cushion are subject to this restriction.

The purchase limit per product is 10 units, with some variations depending on the item.

This measure is interpreted as an effort to prevent so-called 'hoarding,' where certain customers buy products in bulk and resell them. If specific customers purchase large quantities of products, other customers may be unable to buy Amorepacific products, and if hoarding leads to transactions at inflated prices, there is a concern that the brand's competitiveness could be damaged.

An Amorepacific official stated, "We introduced the purchase quantity limit so that more customers can use Amore products."
