[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Kim Dong-myeong, the current chairman of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU), has been elected as the next chairman to lead the FKTU.
On the afternoon of the 17th, at the 2nd round of voting during the regular electoral meeting held at the Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Seoul to elect the 28th executive committee, Kim, along with his running mate, Ryu Gi-seop, chairman of the Public Federation and candidate for secretary general, won with 1,860 votes.
The competing team, Kim Man-jae, chairman of the Metal Workers' Union, and his running mate Park Hae-cheol, chairman of the Public Workers' Union, received 1,675 votes.
In the first round of voting conducted among three teams earlier, no candidate received a majority, so according to regulations, a second round of voting was held between the top two teams.
