Canada Implements Chemical Castration for Sex Offenders
Chris Wu (Chinese name Wu Yifan), a Chinese-Canadian singer and actor formerly of the group EXO, has been officially arrested on charges including sexual assault.
Recently, Chinese media outlets such as Sina Entertainment reported that Chris was officially arrested on the 15th and detained at Chaoyang Detention Center. The media stated that he is currently awaiting the court's final sentencing, and once the prison term is confirmed, he will be transferred to a formal prison to serve his sentence.

Chris is suspected of inviting two women to his home on July 1, 2018, and engaging in group sexual activities. He was also embroiled in a sex scandal in 2021 following allegations made by a woman claiming to be his ex-girlfriend.
It was revealed that Chris promised support in the entertainment industry in exchange for sexual relations, with more than eight victims involved. It was also stated that several minors were included among the victims.
Earlier, the Beijing Chaoyang District People's Court sentenced Chris to 13 years in prison in the first trial held in November last year. He was sentenced to 11 years and 6 months for rape and 1 year and 10 months for group obscenity.
In China, the penalty for rape typically ranges from 3 to 10 years, but local media reported that Chris received a heavier sentence. Local experts predict that Chris will receive at least a 5-year prison sentence in the final ruling.
Deported to Canada after serving sentence in China... Country practicing chemical castration
Chris will be deported to Canada, his country of nationality, after serving his sentence in China.
There are concerns that Chris might be subjected to chemical castration. Canada implements chemical castration for sex offenders. Chemical castration involves administering drugs to suppress the sexual urges and prevent recidivism of sex offenders, and in Canada, this is considered a security measure that can be carried out without the individual's consent.
Meanwhile, Chris debuted as a member of the group EXO in 2013, but left the team and moved to China two years later after filing a lawsuit against his agency to nullify his exclusive contract.
