[Asia Economy Reporter Lim On-yu] Lotte Construction announced on the 17th that it donated a total of 80,000 briquettes, 40,000 each, to the Seoul Briquette Bank and the Busan Briquette Bank over two days on the 11th and 16th ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
The briquettes donated by Lotte Construction were delivered to the Nowon-gu, Seongbuk-gu, and Gangnam-gu areas in Seoul, as well as the Dong-gu, Seo-gu, Saha-gu, Jin-gu, and Nam-gu areas in Busan. A Lotte Construction official explained, "We carried out the briquette sharing activity to reduce the winter heating cost burden for energy-vulnerable households such as elderly living alone and neighbors in welfare blind spots."
The briquettes delivered this time were prepared with funds raised through Lotte Construction’s ‘1 to 3 Matching Grant System.’ Since 2011, Lotte Construction has been implementing a system where the company donates three times the amount of the monthly donations made by its employees to society.
Lotte Construction has also continued its love briquette sharing for 13 years since 2011. The total briquettes donated up to this year amount to 622,000, including 320,000 in Seoul and 302,000 in Busan.
A Lotte Construction official said, "We will continue to strive to become a company that grows together with the local community through sincere sharing activities."
