Various Emergency Hotline Counseling Services Also Operated 24 Hours
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The government will operate childcare and emergency phone counseling services without any breaks during the Lunar New Year holiday.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 17th that from the 21st to the 24th, the childcare service will apply weekday rates and various counseling phone lines will operate normally.
First, to prevent care gaps for dual-income and single-parent families who must work during the Lunar New Year holiday, the childcare service will be operated at the same rates as on weekdays. The childcare service, which visits homes with children aged 12 or younger to take care of them, normally charges an additional 50% fee for use on holidays and at night. However, during this holiday period, the weekday rate (11,080 KRW per hour) will be applied.
The 18 Women’s Emergency Call Centers 1366, which protect and support victims of violence, will also operate normally. Those who urgently need counseling, rescue, and protection due to domestic violence or sexual violence can receive help 24 hours a day. Additionally, the 32 Sunflower Centers will also operate normally, providing one-stop support including counseling, medical care, legal assistance, and investigation for victims of violence.
The nationwide 138 youth shelters and Youth Counseling 1388 (phone, mobile, online) for out-of-home youth will provide counseling and emergency life protection services throughout the holiday period. The Family Counseling Phone (1644-6621) for pregnancy and childbirth counseling, single-parent family counseling, and psychological and emotional support counseling will also operate normally.
For multicultural families and migrant women, the Danuri Call Center (1577-1366), which provides counseling and information in 13 languages including Vietnamese, Chinese, Filipino, Mongolian, Russian, Thai, Cambodian, Japanese, Uzbek, Lao, Nepali, English, and Korean, will also operate normally, supporting connections to protection facilities and related organizations.
