Geochang-gun Launches Safety Inspection Day Campaign Ahead of Lunar New Year Holiday

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the 16th, Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, held a Safety Inspection Day campaign in front of the county office's cultural rest area, with about 40 participants including County Governor Goo In-mo, the local autonomous disaster prevention group, Geochang-eup Women's Volunteer Fire Brigade, and Women's Civil Defense Mobile Unit, focusing on the downtown area in preparation for the Lunar New Year holiday.

This campaign was organized to cultivate the safety awareness of residents, which could become complacent during the Lunar New Year holiday, and to prevent safety accidents such as fires and the spread of COVID-19.

They conducted street campaigns and distributed promotional materials on fire prevention safety management, the six key personal COVID-19 prevention measures, and additional COVID-19 vaccinations during the winter season, targeting residents and the area around Geochang traditional market.

Geochang-gun strives to establish a safety culture by promoting various safety-related publicity to enhance residents' safety awareness and inspecting disaster-vulnerable facilities through a monthly Safety Inspection Day campaign.

Additionally, to create a safe Geochang-gun, they are implementing various policies such as Safety Korea Training, focused safety inspections during the transition to safety big data, and safety education tailored to different life cycles.

Governor Goo said, “I hope that with the interest and participation of all residents in preventing safety accidents and COVID-19, not a single safety accident will occur during this Lunar New Year holiday,” and added, “I also ask for active participation in additional COVID-19 vaccinations and compliance with quarantine rules for a happy holiday.”

Geochang-gun plans to operate a 24-hour disaster safety situation room during the Lunar New Year holiday period to promptly respond to any unexpected safety accidents and disasters.
