Applications Accepted at Eupmyeon Offices Until the 27th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province is accepting applications for the ‘Wild Ginseng Seed and Soil Microbial Agent Support Project’ at the local eup/myeon offices until the 27th.
Hamyang-gun is implementing the nation’s first production tracking system and planting altitude restrictions (above 500m) to cultivate premium wild ginseng, strictly managing quality from the seed stage, which is the pre-cultivation phase, through soil and pesticide management, distribution, and sales.
This project is carried out by the county as its own initiative to ensure a stable supply of superior seeds and improve soil quality from the pre-cultivation stage of wild ginseng, targeting wild ginseng farming households within the jurisdiction.
Applicants must be farmers wishing to cultivate wild ginseng, and to do so, they are required to undergo mandatory procedures such as production synthesis investigation, production reporting, production process verification, and quality inspection from the Korea Forestry Promotion Institute.
Among the applicants, farms that have applied for 200kg or more of seeds in the past three years will be separately adjusted, and only approved products (Power Toto, Wild Ginseng Eco-friendly Soil Conditioner) can be applied for in the case of microbial agents.
The purchase price for wild ginseng seeds is 150,000 KRW per kilogram, and for soil microbial agents, it ranges from 18,000 to 25,000 KRW per pack, with the county supporting 50% of the cost.
The county has secured a budget of 52 million KRW (700kg) for seeds and 44 million KRW (5,500 packs) for soil microbial agents this year for this project.
An official from the county stated, “For the production of premium Hamyang wild ginseng, it is most important to plant superior seeds in high-quality soil,” and added, “We ask farmers to thoroughly manage everything from production to distribution so that consumers can trust and enjoy the product.”
