[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Yangsan City, Gyeongnam Province, is supporting the replacement costs of air pollution prevention facilities for aging small-scale businesses to improve air quality.
On the 16th, Yangsan City announced that it will promote the "Small-scale Business Air Pollution Prevention Facility Installation Support Project" to reduce air pollutants such as fine dust-causing substances and odor substances in urban industrial complexes directly related to citizens' lives.
This project supports up to 90% of the replacement costs for aging air pollution prevention facilities in small-scale businesses that lack the capacity for self-investment due to economic recession and management difficulties, within the subsidy limits per facility (50% national funds, 40% local funds).

The support project has been ongoing since 2019, and by 2022, a total of 10 billion KRW was spent to replace aging air pollution prevention facilities in 114 small-scale businesses, contributing to the reduction of air pollutants. This year, a budget of 2.4 billion KRW will be invested.
The city plans to focus support on businesses near residential areas where environmental pollution complaints are frequent, aiming to improve areas vulnerable to fine dust and odors. In addition to support, the city will jointly manage the proper maintenance of the facilities to enhance the effectiveness of the policy.
The support targets are medium and small enterprises under Article 3, Paragraph 1 of the Enforcement Decree of the Framework Act on Small and Medium Enterprises, and businesses classified as types 1 to 5 under the Air Environment Conservation Act. For detailed information, please refer to the city’s website announcement.
A Yangsan City official said, "The air pollution prevention facility installation support project is a proactive environmental policy focused on prevention rather than enforcement and regulation, as well as an economic support policy for small and medium enterprises. We hope small-scale businesses that have not been able to replace aging prevention facilities due to economic burdens will actively participate."
