[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Ahn Cheol-soo, a candidate for the leadership of the People Power Party, criticized the intra-party leadership competition, saying, "It is not a beautiful competition where everyone participates, but a dangerous back tackle targeting a specific person is rampant."

On the 15th, Ahn wrote on Facebook, "If this continues, it could leave the party with deep, irreparable wounds and divisions," emphasizing, "This party convention should be a festival of the party competing over vision, strategy, policy, and leadership for winning the general election."

He stated, "The rules are already being criticized for losing fairness," and argued that the convention should not become one that the public ignores, one that divides the party, or one where fear of nomination grows."

He continued, "All candidates running for party leader must acknowledge that they all hope for the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration," and urged, "We should compete to be a leader who empowers President Yoon, not rely on his power."

Ahn explained, "Although I was defeated in the 2021 April 7 Seoul mayoral by-election primary, I accepted the result cleanly and did my best to support the election," adding, "As a result, I brought the first victory to the opposition, which was accustomed to losing."

He emphasized, "We must unite again as one team," and said, "It is not important who wins. What matters is that we win."

He further stated, "The party convention should elect a party leader who can lead a landslide victory in the general election, a leader who can conduct fair nominations, a leader who can guide the party as a competent policy party based on a high understanding of the national vision, and a leader who can achieve party stability and harmony through morality without fighting or using harsh language."
