Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, expressed his desire to visit the United Nations (UN) on the first anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

According to foreign media on the 13th (local time), Emine Zaparova, Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister, stated that President Zelensky wishes to deliver a speech at the high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly on September 23, the day before the anniversary, provided that the security situation allows.

If this visit materializes, it will be President Zelensky's second overseas trip. He made a surprise visit to the United States on the 21st of last month to confirm support. Deputy Minister Zaparova explained that she has heard information that Russia is planning a large-scale airstrike and said, "Many conditions must be met for him to come."

Ukraine hopes that the UN will adopt one of two resolutions related to Ukraine. One supports the peace formula proposed by President Zelensky, and the other calls for the establishment of a special tribunal to prosecute Russia's war crimes. Last month, at the G20 summit, President Zelensky presented a peace formula consisting of ten points, including the withdrawal of Russian troops, restoration of justice, nuclear safety, food security, and energy security.
