Winter Season Intensive Efforts to Identify and Support Vulnerable Welfare Groups
[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 13th that it has been operating a focused winter vulnerable group discovery period from December last year to the end of February this year and is stepping up customized support.
The main targets for discovery are △households at risk of cold waves △seasonal unemployment households △isolated and vulnerable elderly living alone and children △households struggling due to the resurgence of COVID-19.
The county plans to minimize welfare blind spots by proactively discovering crisis households and providing prompt support through cooperation between the crisis household discovery system and the human safety net composed of local residents such as the Community Social Security Council, Gurye-gun Welfare Mobile Team, and Honorary Social Welfare Officers.
For the discovered crisis households, in addition to flexible public support such as basic living security and emergency welfare support, customized services tailored to each situation such as livelihood, medical, housing expenses, heating, and daily necessities support will be provided through case meetings of the Welfare Mobile Team and the council if necessary.
County Governor Kim Sun-ho said, “We will establish a dense human safety net to ensure that not a single one of our winter-isolated residents is left out and will do our best in discovery and support,” adding, “Please take another look at our neighbors around you and actively contact us if you find crisis households.”
