[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] 'Digital Literacy' refers to the knowledge and ability to use digital devices to perform desired tasks and obtain necessary information, in other words, 'digital literacy skills.'
'Literacy' means the ability to read and write. It is an integrated ability that goes beyond simply using and handling digital tools well, to understanding, selecting, editing, and processing the scattered digital information to create new knowledge.
It is an active concept that goes beyond simply using SNS or Google and metaverse platforms, to evaluating and judging the information derived from them, and creating new knowledge by utilizing the selected information.
Recently, the Ministry of Education and metropolitan and provincial offices of education have been promoting various policies so that students can naturally develop digital literacy at school and home. On the 11th, the Ministry of Education held the 'Digital Media Literacy Education Student Participation Group Performance Sharing Event' at Seoul Dragon City in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Ulsan and Daegu Offices of Education are operating programs such as utilizing professional instructors and holding various digital camps, and the Busan Office of Education is producing and distributing its own digital literacy magazine.
