Governor Park said, "Since there are many things we are working on together, we need to meet once at the beginning of the year to discuss what needs to be discussed and organize what needs to be organized before moving forward," adding, "Both institutions probably have things they want to say, so let's agree on what needs agreement and provide direction where necessary."
Mayor Hong responded, "I think this kind of meeting is a good opportunity for the province and Changwon City to exchange opinions," and expressed gratitude, saying, "Thank you for arranging this gathering."
During the meeting, opinions were heard and cooperation plans were discussed regarding various current issues including joint projects between the province and Changwon City.
Among them, the main topic was the plan to lift development restrictions related to adjusting the target site for the national industrial complex aimed at focused fostering of the defense and nuclear power industries.
Governor Park stated, "At a time when there are concerns about local extinction, excessive land use restrictions on local small and medium-sized cities are problematic," and added, "The province and Changwon City need to make joint efforts to present concrete plans for lifting the development restriction zones."
Regarding the financial burden sharing to ease toll fees on the Machang Bridge, Changwon City, which had previously shown reluctance due to financial deterioration, agreed to accept it to some extent, and the two institutions decided to continue consultations.
Opinions were also exchanged on the early normalization of various convenience facilities such as the restaurant at Changwon Convention Center and on resolving deficits at Changwon Leisure Sports Park.
Regarding Robot Land, for which the second trial verdict was announced that day, they agreed to unify long-term operation to enhance responsibility and efficiency in its construction and management.
Since the launch of the 8th popular election term, the province plans to continue communication and cooperation by discussing major policies and operational plans through current issue cooperation meetings following visits to cities and counties and dialogues with residents.
