[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Samsung Electronics announced on the 12th that its 2023 Neo QLED has received the industry's first VDE 'Biological Rhythm Display' certification. This recognizes the product's excellence in adjusting luminance (screen brightness) to suit our eyes by being bright during the day and dim at night. VDE is a German testing and certification organization.
VDE explained that the 'Eye Comfort Mode' installed in the product automatically adjusts luminance and color temperature day and night to provide image quality optimized for the human eye. During the day, it increases luminance and color temperature to create an effect similar to the outdoors even indoors. At night, it lowers them to help comfortable sleep.
Not only the Neo QLED but also lifestyle TVs such as The Frame, The Serif, and The Sero received the certification.
The certification was conducted according to the industry standard 'CS Index' based on research results from the U.S. Lighting Research Center.
Samsung Electronics explained that it has been recognized for product viewing safety and color accuracy excellence by global certification bodies. QLED TVs, including the Neo QLED 8K TV, received the industry's first 'Eye Care' certification in 2021. They met all evaluation criteria of VDE including blue light and ultraviolet (UV) light harmlessness, melatonin suppression levels, screen flicker, and color accuracy.
The 2022 model The Frame, equipped with a 'Matte Display,' obtained the 'Anti-Glare' certification from the U.S. certification body UL. In 2022, all QLED TV models were the first in the world to receive the 'Pantone Color Certification' from the color specialist brand Pantone.
Yong Seok-woo, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display (VD) Business Division, said, "As demand for high-definition and large-screen displays increases, viewing safety and quality are emerging as important indicators. We will continue to prioritize user experience from the development stage to provide the best viewing experience."
