Russia and Ukraine Agree to Exchange 40 Prisoners of War

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] Russia and Ukraine agreed on the 11th (local time) to exchange 40 prisoners of war.

According to major foreign media, Tatiana Moskalkova, Russia's human rights commissioner, and Dmytro Lubinets, Ukraine's human rights commissioner, held talks in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, and made this decision.

The human rights commissioners from both sides set up a separate negotiation room at a hotel in Ankara, where they visited to attend the International Ombudsman Conference, and discussed prisoner issues for about 40 minutes.

Russia and Ukraine have been steadily exchanging prisoners during the 11 months of war. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed in a parliamentary speech last month that 1,456 of their troops have been released through prisoner exchanges.
